Anabolic Steroids In Football

It seems that it is not only the cycling and athletics Anti-Doping Associations that have their hands full with doping cases, but FIFA has just witnessed two professional footballers fail doping tests.

Two internationals have been found guilty of using banned substances for performance enhancing reasons.

Italian player Eduardo Oliveira was tested after the third place play-offs at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Brazil 2008 between Russia and Italy on 18th October. He tested positive for the use of the anabolic steroid nandrolone, which is on the list of prohibited substances.

Oliveira was penalised with a two year suspension which applies to all games including friendly’s and domestic matches which commenced from 6th November.

Liberian international Melvin King also tested positive for the use of substances banned under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of “Prohibited Substances.” King was tested after the preliminary competition of the 2010 FIFA World Cup between Senegal and Liberia on 21st June 2008.

As a result, King has been banned for five months which includes all fixtures including domestic and internationals.

The English FA have addresses their anti-doping procedures in recent months and have signalled intent to intensify their attempts to keep football clean from steroids. Hopefully preventing the youngsters of today that using steroids for sale is cheating and will not be tolerated.

RFU Gets Tough On Doping

The Rugby Football Union is the latest sporting body to issue a revise on Anti-Doping Provisions which will take effect from the start of the new year.

Recently we have seen a huge push by the sporting bodies to bring their doping procedures in line with the New World Anti-Doping Agency Code. This includes the new rules regarding athlete whereabouts requirements, therapeutic use exemption as well as retirement and return to competition.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), has made amendments to their anti-doping procedures and these changes seem to have been implemented throughout the sporting world, adding to the fact that doping in sport is cheating and will not be tolerated.

The RFU has an appointed full time anti-doping officer in Gavin Dovey to oversee the changes and to make sure that the players know the new procedures.Gavin was appointed ion 2006 and will be responsible for new regulations which come into effects from the 1st January 2009.

Dugs like Dianabol and Deca re still on the list of banned substances, but amendments have included other drugs which were unknown of at the time the code was written.

Steroid Testing To the Next Level

Category: Sporting News

Doping in sports in recent years has become a media frenzy, from the cyclists at the Tour de France to the athletes in Beijing, drug testing and doping are at the forefront of concerns in sport today.

We have heard from the IOC about their plans on retro-active drug testing as a tool to fight those ‘under the radar’ drugs. This allows testing to be carried to up to eight years after the sample was taken allowing for the drug testers to know what they are looking for.

The use of performance enhancing drugs has even spread to other competition where you would not even consider that the use of drugs could enhance performance.

There has been reports of performance enhancing drugs being used in the game of chess. Now anabolic steroids and a ripped physique will not increase your mental capacity, but some drugs can be used to control blood pressure and meditate heart beat allowing a more controlled and balanced state of mind.

Testing in Formula One has even been taken to a new level. Since F1 brought its drug testing standards up to the level required by the World Doping Agency, drug testing has been more thorough and more frequent.

Some drivers have even experienced a knock on the door at 8am from the testing agency requiring a urine sample as part of the closed season checks.

Using steroids or performance enhancing drugs in today’s sporting environment, with the testing seen recently, its only a mater of time before the cheats are forced out of the closet. Don’t buy steroids if you are in a professional sport and wish to remain there, Pro Anabolic is legal and offers great results without the risk of receiving a life long ban.

Beijing Doping Still Being Uncovered.

Months after the Beijing Olympics, the International Olympic Committee has announced that a further three athletes have been found guilty of doping violations and disqualified accordingly.

Vadim Devyatovskiy and Ivan Tsikhan, both from Belarus have tested positive for abnormally high levels of testosterone, which is used to increase protein synthesis and increases strength and power.

Polish canoeist Adam Seroczynski, was disqualified after been found to use the anabolic steroid, Clenbuterol, which is mainly used for weight loss.

The two Belarusian athletes will have their medals stripped from them after using performance enhancing drugs to cheat their competitors in the hammer throw. Devyatovskiy’s silver medal has now been handed over to Krisztian Pars and Tsikhan’s bronze will go to Japan’s Koji Murofushi.

Devyatoskiy’s penalty could be as harsh as a lifetime ban from the sport after taking into account this being his second doping violation.

This brings the total count of doping infringements for the 2008 Olympic games to nine, which is expected to rise after the IOC carryout retrospective testing for CERA in 2009. Drugs like Dianabol seem to be a thing of the past, athletes are now looking for new, undetectable ways of cheating the sport which creates a whole new level of testing by the IOC.

Montgomery Admits Steroid Use

Former sprinter Tim Montgomery, currently serving time behind bars for heroin dealing and cheque fraud, has admitted that he used anabolic steroids and HGH (Human Growth Hormone) in the build up to the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Montgomery announced, in an interview for HBO, that during his preparations for the Sydney games, that he used testosterone and HGH four times a month to get himself into shape.

In September 2002, Montgomery broke the world record over 100 meters by slashing the record time by 0.01 seconds to 9.78 seconds.

This record was stripped from the sprinter following implications of his involvement in the Balco Labs steroid scandal. Although he never tested positive for the use of anabolic steroids, press reports state that he and a host of other prominent athletes were obtaining drugs from the Balco Laboratories in San Francisco where they had steroids for sale.

Not only did he have his records and titles stripped as a result of the Balco incident, but Montgomery received a two year ban from professional sports prompting his retirement from athletics.

Montgomery is currently serving more than 8 eight years ion jail following his involvement in a $775,000 cheque fraud scam and for selling more than 100 grams of heroin in the Virginia Beach area.

He was also involved with former sprinter Marion Jones. Jones, who was also indicted in the Balco Labs case, now has a child with Tim but the pair are no longer together.

It appears that the disgraced sprinter is now ready to hand over his medals won during the Sydney games.

“I have a gold medal that I’m sitting on that I didn’t get with my own ability … I’m not here to take away from anybody else’s accomplishments, only my own. I apologize to the other people that was on the relay team if that was to happen.”

It remain open as to whether the IOC will strip the rest of the relay team of their gold medals also.

More Than 100 Counties Back Anti-Doping in Sport

Category: Sporting News

More than 100 hundred countries have pledged their support to the International Convention Against Doping in Sport by signing a petition for changes in the way doping in sport is handled.

The International Convention Against Doping was adopted in October 2005, and in just over three years, 102 countries have signed the Convention in favour of the changes. With so many counties joining in just over three years, this is UNESCO’s most successful convention in terms of speed of development and implementation.

The aim of the convention “is to promote the prevention of and the fight against doping in sport, with a view to its elimination.”

With this convention being ratified by such a large amounts of Governments from different countries, consistency throughout sports with regards to doping will go a massive way toward eradicating doping in competitive sports.

This new Convention aligns all participating countries standards and power when it comes to doping in sport. Specifically, “helps a member nation prevent cross-border trafficking of sporting drugs, support a national drug-testing program and withhold funding from athletes caught cheating.”

The use of legal steroids like Pro Anabolic has not been affected and this lean muscle builder remains legal in all countries.

UK laws on Steroids for 2012

Unlike other most other countries throughout the world, the UK has laws that do not make the possession of anabolic steroids and performance enhancing illegal. Distribution and purchasing of such substances is illegal and is punishable as a Class C drug.

In recent moths, amid the excitement and anticipation of the London Olympics 2012, top IOC representatives have been calling for a revamp of the laws surrounding not only the supply of anabolic steroids and PED‘s, but also the possession.

The IOC would like to be on a level playing field with all countries involved following the same laws on the use of banned substances.

At present, doping bodies have the power to demand a test, but they do not have the power to carry out searches to pinpoint the guilt doping culprits.

With laws in place making possession of PED’s and steroids illegal, the doping authorities will have the backing of the police force to carry out searches on suspected dopers. As was the case in 2006 Olympics in Italy where the policing authorities carried out a search to find the Austrian cross-country skiing team guilty of blood doping.

Britain is expected to put in place a new anti-doping authority by next year in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games and with a possible prison sentence of 14 years for supplying steroids for sale and class C substances currently, is it necessary to change the entire law for the Olympic Games.

Steroid Blitz on Premiership Stars

In an effort to save the credibility and purity of football in England, new plans have been announced to clamp down on drug use in the Premiership. Sports like athletics and cycling have been tainted in recent years due to the number of athletes ignoring doping policies and using performance enhancing drugs.

The sport has already seen its fair share of controversy surrounding the use of banned substances. Rio Ferdinand was banned and fined in 2003 after “forgetting” to go to his drugs test. Both Adrian Mutu and Mark Bosnich were infamously found guilty of using cocaine and received seven months and 9 month bans respectively. Even Abel Xavier was found guilty of using the anabolic steroid Dianabol for performance enhancement and banned accordingly.

To avoid repeats and to deter the use of such substances, plans to clamp down on drug testing have been announced. Thirty of the top premierships players, including the international stars in the England ranks, will be placed on a ’hit list’ in a bid to combat drug-taking in the game.

Those stars placed on the list will have to undergo five official drugs test per year, in addition to the standard post match tests already being carried out.

On top of the extra tests, the athletes on the list will also need to provide accurate information on their whereabouts for one hour of every day, including during end of season breaks and summer holidays.

These new plans would mean that anyone on the list could be tested at any time at any location in the world. This would put a stop to situations arising where athletes whereabouts are unknown for long periods of time in the closed season allowing doping without any testing.

The consequences of either missing a test or not providing information on whereabouts could result in a one year ban.

The list of stars is likely to include a selection of players from the England squad along with top foreign starts in the Premiership.

The UK Sport and Football Association bosses are likely to meet within the next few months to discuss the player included on the register. Those likely to be included will be those with a previous record of either drug use or testing discrepancies.

These new plans are likely to cause some concerns regarding the list and the privacy of the players whilst in post season rest or holidays. Whatever the concerns, the aim of the plan is on the right track , to thwart players off performance enhancing drugs and keep the game clean.

This doesn’t mean that recreational drugs used during the summer, out of season period will produce positive results. The class A drug cocaine is classed as a stimulant not a performance enhancing drug and as such, no action would be taken.

Anabolic Steroids Found in UFC

There has been a media frenzy surrounding the steroid use at the Olympics this year in Beijing, not only the steroid use but the administration of steroid testing itself has come under question. We have since witnessed report of steroid use in the NFL, Major League Soccer and now the UFC has found use of anabolic steroids amongst the fighters of UFC 89.

Chis leben, born Portland, Oregon, tested positive for the use of the anabolic steroid Stanozolol, commonly referred to as Winstrol.

Winstrol is commonly used by bodybuilders in the cutting phase of their training as it has a low estrogenic conversion rate meaning minimal water and fat retention, ideal for the performing athlete.

A random drugs test taken after Leben was defeated by Michael Bisping during UFC 89 showed a positive test for the banned substance and means that Chris will receive a nine month suspension along with a fine of one third his fight earnings.

All fighters may be required to take a random drugs test and it has been said that of all fighters tested that night in England, Leben was the only positive result.

This proves that all athletes, no matter from what sport, need to stay clear of steroids for sale as there seems no way around the random drugs tests. If only Chris Leben had been pointed in the direction of Pro Anabolic, the legal and safe steroid alternative.

Shot Putter Admitted Steroid Use

On Tuesday night, Bishop Dolegiewicz, the famous Canadian shot putter, a three time Olympian passed away in his sleep at the age of 55.

Having picked up two gold medals at the Pan Am Games, two silver medals at the Commonwealth Games and thirteen medals at Canadian championships, the larger than life athlete certainly made a mark in shot putt history.

Dolegiewicz, who was suffering from cardio and circulation problems, passed in his sleep, and coincidentally, died in the same week as Justice Dubin.

He was stripped of his Canadian shot putt record after admitting, at the Dubin Inquiry, that he used anabolic steroids for a decade during his career.

Dolegiewicz, who has been a successful coach for the Canadian athletics side, never encouraged his athletes to use steroids or buy steroids.

“I give people the examples of individuals that I have known that have gotten sick from the use of steroids and I try to come across and give the kids the message, `Look, you’re going to pay the price at some point in time,’” Dolegiewicz said during his testimony.
