Anabolic steroids produce far worse damage to the human body than mealy appearance altering effects. If those of you out there that thought the ’moon face’, bloatedness and acne were the full extent of the side effects, then think again.

The effects they have on your body can cause far serious problems.

Hypertension, or High Blood Pressure, is common amongst users of anabolic steroids. Elevated levels of blood pressure can cause an increase in stress on the heart and it isn’t uncommon for cardiac problems to arise.

Cholesterols levels are also affected. Harmful changes result in an increase in LDL(Low Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol and a decrease in HDL(High Density Lipoproteins) cholesterol. This has a significant correlation to the increase in pressure on the heart.

HDL removes cholesterol from the arteries and transports it back to the liver for re-utilisation, whereas LDL transports cholesterol from the liver to the rest of the body. High levels of LDL result in high blood pressure and so attribute to the cardio vascular problems.
