In a conversation with Reuters, Usain Bolt cleared up the air on recent comments made by the former 100 meter champion, Carl Lewis.

“I know I’m clean. I work hard for what I want,” said the 6-foot-5 sprinter.

Bolt says that hard training has got him in the condition he is in and responded to Carl Lewis by saying

“Carl Lewis can say whatever he wants. That’s just his opinion.”

Bolt has now set his sights on the London Olympics in 2012 to defend his championship.

With the Beijing Olympics of 2008 past us and the medals handed out, yet more athletes have been pushed to the forefront after implications over anabolic steroid use.

The Belarusian Athletics Federation announced on Tuesday that they were suspending two of their athletes after testing positively for banned performance enhancing drugs.

The decision to suspend Yulia Leantsyuk and Irina Bakhanouskaya was made last month and announced only last week. Both athletes competed in the European Cup in France in June in which Belarus women’s placed 8th in the overall competition.

Yulia Leantsyuk tested positive for the use of testosterone, the hormone naturally occurring in men, and her team mate Irina Bakhanouskaya , had a positive result for stanozolol. Both the substances are banned by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) .

Two other athletes, part of the team competing in the Beijing Olympics, have also had positive results for the use of testosterone. Vadim Devyatovskiy and Ivan Tsikhan have met with the International Olympic Committee’s Disciplinary Commission to prove their innocence.

Harsh penalties are likely if the two are found guilty. This would be Devyatovskiy second count of doping and so, if found guilty, could face a lifetime ban.

“We are waiting and we hope,” silver medalist Devyatovskiy said, “We know that we are clean but we are waiting for information.”
