Dianabol, The World Famous Anabolic Steroid
Dianabol is the most recognisable name for the drug methandrostenolone, or sometimes called methandienone. Methandrostenolone is a derivative of testosterone and modified to enhance the anabolic properties and reduce the androgenic effects.
Dianabol was originally launched as an oral steroid taken in the form of tablets, however has been adapted as an injectable solution.
The half life of the steroid is between 3 to five hours, this is how long it stays active in the body for. Based on the short half life, it has been suggested to spit up taking the tablets during the day to regulate the concentration in the blood.
The dosage varies between users, but typically is taken at around 5mg per day. This can be administered for no more than 6 weeks at which point a 2 to 4 week break period needs to be adhered to. There have been cases of athletes taking much high doses, reaching 30-40mg per day, but this practice generally leads to an increase in androgenic side effects.
Although the steroid has been altered to minimize androgenic effect, an array of side effects are common and range from; oily skin, acne, hair loss, hepatoxicity (liver damage), cardiovascular problems, testosterone suppression.
The vast majority of famous Dianabol manufacturers have ceased their production lines, however the steroid can still be found on the market.
