The fight against doping in sport is a continual and on going battle. With new steroidal compounds being discovered and fed to the sporting professionals, the doping authorities throughout the world have an uphill struggle on their hands.

Each year, the World Doping Authority updates its list of Prohibited Substances to keep up with the advancements made in doping in sport.

The substances declared prohibited by WADA are included in all sports as WADA sets the international standard on doping rules and methods. This has been the case since the World Doping Authority first published its list back in 1963.

Steroids like dianabol and deca have always been included on the list, the revisions just include the newly discovered drugs that increase performance unfairly.

The list is available online and comes into effect as from the 1^st January 2009.

After a turbulent year for the Bulgarians athletes, the cherry has been put on the cake by the announcement that yet more Bulgarian athletes have been banned as a result of doping.

Bulgarian sprinter Tezdzhan Naimova has been handed a two year ban by the Bulgarian Athletic Federation following an out-of-competition test in Sofia on 28^th June. Naimova was ruled to have tampered with her urine sample and the case was deemed “irrefutable” by Bulgarian athletics federation president Dobri Karamarinov.

This ban will see Naimova miss the European Indoor Championships in Turin in March and the World Championships in Berlin next August.

The two other Bulgarian athletes to disgrace the name of sports were Netova and Stoynova. They were handed two year bans each as a result of testing positive for the use of the anabolic steroid metanolon.

The Bulgarians are not a stranger to steroids or doping infringements and this year we have seen a whole host of Bulgarians fall victim to doping tests. No less than six separate incidences of doping has plagued the Bulgarian Anti-Doping in recent years.

Two internationals have been found guilty of using banned substances for performance enhancing reasons.

Italian player Eduardo Oliveira was tested after the third place play-offs at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Brazil 2008 between Russia and Italy on 18^th October. He tested positive for the use of the anabolic steroid nandrolone, which is on the list of prohibited substances.

Oliveira was penalised with a two year suspension which applies to all games including friendly’s and domestic matches which commenced from 6^th November.

Liberian international Melvin King also tested positive for the use of substances banned under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of “Prohibited Substances.” King was tested after the preliminary competition of the 2010 FIFA World Cup between Senegal and Liberia on 21^st June 2008.

As a result, King has been banned for five months which includes all fixtures including domestic and internationals.

The English FA have addresses their anti-doping procedures in recent months and have signalled intent to intensify their attempts to keep football clean from steroids. Hopefully preventing the youngsters of today that using steroids for sale is cheating and will not be tolerated.

The truth is in fact that these OTC nutritional supplements are just as damaging to one’s health as steroids, maybe even more so due to the obscurity of the labels and detailed information on the steroid.

Most OTC “designer steroids” are labelled in a way to preserve the truth over the ingredients. Most are pre cursers of steroids which mean that they convert to an active steroid one they enter into the bloodstream.

This allows for steroid pre cursors to remain legal due to the fact that they are not specifically steroids and that the steroid that they actually convert to is generally kept a secret. This means that detailed information on the typical side effects and how to tackle them are not made available.

To summarise, “pro steroids”, “designer steroids” and “steroid precursors” are all active steroids that carry the same side effects as the illegal anabolic steroids such as dianabol and deca. The only reason they can be sold is due to a legal loophole as their chemical names are not yet listed as banned substances.

This was the case with Genabol. Originally, it was not a commercial steroid when the law controlling anabolic steroids was written. This means that the compound used in Genabol was not known as an anabolic steroid in the eyes of the law and as such, not looked for in regular doping tests.

This lack of knowledge of the substance by the law gave a private chemist, Patrick Arnold, the chance to release this steroid with the specific intention of beating drug tests.

This was the first case of the new-age “designer steroids”, which are in principle, exactly the same as steroids, with the same health risks and benefits to the athlete as traditional anabolic steroids, yet released without the legality which surrounds steroids.

Estrogenic side effects may present themselves as there will be a certain level of aromatisation. Some of the gains made will be water retention so expect to lose some fast weight come the end of the cycle.

You can not buy steroids like Genabol now as they have been discontinued by the manufacturer and the black market does not seem to have taking this steroid on board.

First described in 1962, this steroid was developed into a medical preparation shortly after by Fher in Spain. Intended guidelines for use were to promote gains in lean bodyweight as well as to combat osteoporosis. Due to this steroids mild androgenic nature, it was also used in androgen sensitive patients such as women and the elderly.

Nandrolone has a low conversion to estrogen so the gains made will be mainly lean muscle and strength with minimal water retention of fat gain.

The slow release of this steroid make it ideal for medical reasons. As a prescription medication, administration needs to be carried out on a bi-weekly basis resulting in less frequent injections.

Androgenic side effects will still present themselves, even though this is classed as a mild androgen. This may include bouts of oily skin and acne, along with suppression of endogenous testosterone production.

As a steroid for sale, herblike is no longer available and con not generally be found in circulation. Some counterfeits may be knocking about where guarantees over quality can not be made.
